Fruit and Vegetable Processing

Introduction

The department of Agriculture has set up 2(two) units, one at Shillong and the other at Dainadubi to process part of the marketable surplus of fruits and vegetables in the State. These centres also impart training on fruit and vegetable processing to the local unemployed educated youth. Training on value addition on a cottage scale is also imparted to facilitate employment opportunities for them.

Materials and Equipments Required


The following equipments are required for preparation of different products :
  • Stainless steel pan.
  • Stove.
  • Weight box & balance.
  • Juice extractor.
  • Wooden laddle.
  • Pineapple puncher (Stainless steel glass may also be used).
  • Refractometer.
  • Thermometer.
